The State government will begin survey of a total of 30,000 acres of land along the coastline of Machilipatnam and Bantumilli from Saturday. The land is meant for proposed deep sea port and other industrial activities.
The massive land survey exercise was scheduled to be completed within the two weeks from August 29. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday took the decision to identify 30,000 acres of land along the Machilipatnam coast during a meeting with Machilipatnam Member of Parliament K. Narayana, Excise and B.C. Welfare Minister K. Ravindra and Krishna Collector Babu. A. Speaking to newsmen here, Mr. Narayana said that the Chief Minister was intended to give a fillip to the Machilipatnam coast through developing it into an industrial corridor, with focus on development of the deep sea port.
“Nearly 10,000 acres of government land is available between Machilipatnam and Bantumilli coast. A total of 20,000 acres of private land will be surveyed. Notices will be served to the land owners to seek their willingness to part their land”, said Mr. Narayana.
“A decision to proceed to get the proposed surveyed land will soon be taken in consultation with the land owners, farmers and the fisher folk. The State government prefers to go for land pooling”, added Mr. Narayana.
Mr. Narayana and Mr. Ravindra on Friday said that they will launch talks with the farmers and the fisher folk to spare the land, ensuring better compensation package and other benefits on par with the guidelines of the Capital Region Development Authority, Vijayawada.
