LS polls: TRS likely to field Patil, Kavitha

They will be contesting from Zaheerabad and Nizamabad Parliamentary constituencies

March 24, 2014 01:30 am | Updated May 19, 2016 11:08 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

The TRS is understood to have almost finalised the candidature of Bheemrao Basanth Rao Patil for Zaheerabad Parliamentary constituency and is likely to be announced officially by its president K. Chandrasekhar Rao immediately after the former joins the party and which is tentatively fixed as March 26.

The 54-year-old Patil also called Patel since he owns Patel and Construction Company based in Pune belongs to Sirpur village in Madnur mandal of Jukkal (SC reserved) Assembly constituency in the district.

Little known to people in the district, hitherto Patil is a big shot in Maharashtra and infact wanted to come into politics before the last general elections itself.

After getting clear assurance from KCR for party ticket for Zaheerabad seat, he had strongly made up his mind to join the party. Earlier, he was tipped as the BJP nominee from the constituency.

With an eye on public life and also out of interest for public service Mr. Patil conducted many health camps in all the seven Assembly segments of the Lok Sabha constituency.

He conducted several mega health camps and distributed medicines worth lakhs of rupees free of cost under the aegis of a foundation headed by him.

Meanwhile, declaration of candidature of Kalvakuntla Kavitha for Nizamabad LS seat remains only a formality, according to reliable sources in the party.

The party chief might announce her name in the last hour after the completion of total exercise for all Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies, said the sources.

No surprise

Her nomination will not spring any surprise to people as she is considered to be local resident with her in-laws belonging to Nizamabad. That apart, as daughter-in-law of this town, daughter of KCR and Telangana Jagruthi president, she was associated with all major agitations waged for Telangana all these years. Thus, her name as an MP candidate from TRS reverberated even months before the general elections.
