As the dust of election hustle-bustle has settled down a bit after the polling day, the candidates in the fray for Assembly and Lok Sabha seats seem to have gone to relaxing mode for a while. However, the candidates of Municipal Corporation are in a tense mood as the counting of votes is scheduled to be held on May 12.

The candidates for Rajahmundry City and Rural Assembly constituencies are busy meeting their supporters and gathering information on the election trend. Actor Murali Mohan who contested for the second time from Rajahmundry Parliamentary constituency returned from Annavaram Devasthanam after having darshan of Lord Satyanarayana Swamy along with his family members on Thursday.

“Finally, I had the luxury of waking up late in the morning after about 50 days,” he said.

BJP nominee Akula Satyanarayana, an orthopaedic surgeon-turned-realtor, for Rajahmundry city Assembly constituency is anxiously waiting for the results. “ It (the election) was an examination for me. Now, I have to wait for the results till May 16. I am confident that I will pass at least with a slender majority,” he said.

Bommana Rajkumar, who contested on the YSRC ticket for Rajahmundry City Assembly constituency was seen busy finishing pending works at home. He is popular with his cloth business and active in party for the last one-and-a-half years.

But, as the counting day is approaching, the civic poll candidates are biting their nails. Medapati Sharmila Reddy, who contested as Mayor Candidate on the YSRC ticket is in a tense situation. “I am anxious to know the results. Anything may happen in politics in the last minute but I am confident that my hard work will pay me off,” he said.

TDP Mayor Candidate Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai said that she was not having any tension and was confident of winning the poll. “I am prepared for any thing and fully confident of getting through”, Ms. Rajani said.
