April 20, 2013 02:20 pm | Updated December 04, 2021 11:17 pm IST - KAKINADA:

Collector Neetu Prasad on Friday asked consumers of cooking gas to submit their Aadhaar and bank account details to the agency concerned on or before May 15.

She said those who failed to submit the details before the stipulated period could not avail themselves of the subsidy being given by the government on the refill cylinders. The Collector said that East Godavari was one among the five districts being selected by the State government to extend the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme to the subsidy on cooking gas cylinders and the last date for submission of the details had already been extended thrice in the district. She said the district administration, on its part, conducted special camps in association with the bankers to ensure one bank account each to all the families.

Referring to the price of the refill cylinder, Ms. Neetu said the actual price of the refill was Rs.1,020, in which the government was offering a subsidy of Rs. 600 each on the refills. Those who failed to furnish the details of the Aadhaar and bank account would have to pay the full amount to get the refill cylinders, she explained.
