LPG bottling plant strike continues

April 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - KOCHI:

The four-day-old strike by contract employees at Indian Oil Corporation’s cooking gas bottling plant near here continues as talks between the company management and workers failed on Sunday.

There was no solution in sight unless there was a third party intervention, said trade union sources.

As a result of the strike, cooking gas supply to central Kerala continues to be affected.

Supplies for districts such as Thiruvananthapuram are now sourced partially from Tamil Nadu because of a transport issue at the Paripally bottling plant in Kollam district.

Meanwhile, trade union sources indicated that the ongoing strike had no official backing from the CITU and INTUC.

They expressed optimism that the strike would end quickly as another round of talks is scheduled for Monday.
