Lokesh calls on Speaker

August 21, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:58 am IST - GUNTUR:

In a significant development, Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh called on Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao at the Inspection Bungalow here on Saturday. The two spent close to 30 minutes discussing the recent political developments.

Though both the leaders remained tight-lipped about the meeting, with Mr. Lokesh saying that he had come to see Dr. Sivaprasada Rao, who recently returned from a short visit to U.S., the one-on-one meeting assumes significance amid reports indicating that a Cabinet expansion is on the cards after the end of Krishna Pushkarams.

Sources close to Mr. Lokesh said the two leaders discussed political developments in the district.

Followers of Mr. Siva Prasada Rao, a former minister and six-time MLA, have been upping the ante for inclusion of the senior leader into the ministry. They say that Mr. Rao, who was selected from Sattenapalli Assembly constituency in 2014, has taken up many programmes, like construction of Individual House Hold Latrines (IHHL), beautification of burial grounds and with the help of corporates, taking up several welfare programmes in the constituency.
