: A life convict and his associate on the run have been finally stopped in their tracks by a special team of the Guntur Urban Police in Mysuru.
Derangula Srinivas alias Srinu, 32, was convicted in 2013 in a murder case at Tadepalligudem and has been serving his sentence at the Rajahmundry Central Prison.
On May 10, he along with Prasad Reddy was brought to Guntur for a hearing in a case relating to a property offence in Nagarampalem police station limits. He was being escorted back to Rajamahendravaram, but he gave Armed Reserve Police the slip near the city.
Superintendent of Police, Guntur Urban, Sarva Sresth Tripathi, who took a serious note of the incident, formed a special team headed Circle Inspector, CCS, Hyma Rao and Sub-Inspector Veerendra.
The police, who gave the convict a hot chase, pinned him down at Mysuru. The police used mobile tracking technology and CCNTS to track down the criminal.
Srinivas was an ITI graduate from Kadapa and was married.
He began by working in construction firms and later started doing civil works at Eluru and Tadepalligudem.
It was around 2006 that he befriended Sridhar Reddy.
A few months later, they killed Srinivasa Reddy over business disputes.
Cases were filed under Section 302 IPC and Srinivas was the main accused in the case.
