Consumer electronics giant, LG Electronics, has responded positively to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s invitation to set up its unit in Andhra Pradesh.
Its president Soon Kwon said, “We haven’t set up manufacturing unit outside South Korea. But, we will consider the proposal of the A.P. government.”
Mr. Naidu and his team interacted with the LG officials in South Korea on Tuesday. He wanted the Korean company to start manufacturing storage and display systems such as LED and OLED screens in A.P.

Mr. Soon Kwon asked Mr. Naidu about the competitive advantage of Andhra Pradesh other States in India.
Mr. Naidu told him that Andhra Pradesh was ranked No. 1 in Ease Of Doing Business. He also explained him the facilities in the State and industrial policy.
“A.P. is ahead of other States, registering double-digit growth rate. Other companies can take a cue from the experience of Kia Motors,” he said.
“Even Foxconn left Tamil Nadu to set up its unit in A.P. Foxconn now employs 13,000 people in the State,” he said, adding, “You can visit A.P. to experience the ecosystem for industrial growth created there.”
“It is unusual to see a government leader speaking with such technological awareness,” Mr. Soon Kwon said, adding, “We will consider exploring opportunities in A.P.”
Mr. Naidu met OCI CEO and president WooHyun Lee, Darcl Director-cum-Deputy CEO Benny Kang, vice-president Nikhil Agarwal, manager (Global Biz Development) Kyeok Nam Kwon, and Greencross Cell CEO Lee Duckjoo.
He also met officials of KAMA, KAICA, Hyundai Merchant Marine etc.
Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and N. Amaranatha Reddy, Government Advisor (communications) Parakala Prabhakar, CMO Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, Industries Secretary Solmon Arokiaraj, Economic Development Board CEO J. Krishna Kishore, and APIIC MD Babu A were present.
