The Central and State governments should disburse ex gratia to the next of kin of victims of heat wave, Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy said on Wednesday, and added that the Kurnool ZP general body meeting adopted a resolution to this effect.
According priority for mitigating drinking water scarcity, the government started cool water centres and distributing buttermilk in the urban and rural areas, Mr. Krishnamurthy said.
Lauding District Collector Ch. Vijayamohan for ensuring digging of farm ponds and soak pits on a war-footing, Mr. Krishnamurthy felicitated him by presenting a shawl and a memento.
Advising officials to provide land, water, sand, and other inputs for industries coming up in the district, he told public representatives not to object to industrial development but become partners in the development process. Mr. Krishnamurthy directed irrigation officials to clear the KC Canal of bushes and garbage when Congress MLC M. Sudhakar Babu raised the issue.
“How can water woes of people be mitigated if tenders are finalised on May 16 for repairing rural water supply pipelines?” the MLC asked.
The Collector replied that all the 54 mandals have CPWS schemes.
