The lawyers in non-Telangana regions should demand division of Andhra Pradesh instead of fighting for High Court benches in their regions, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao said here today.
“Why ask for a bench? They should demand division of the State. Then they can have a High Court and also benches. They can have a new capital and real estate value would also go up in their regions,” he told reporters.
He agreed that about 2,40,000 cases are pending in the High Court.
The TRS president was asked about the stepped up campaign by advocates for setting up High Court benches near Vijayawada in coastal Andhra and Tirupati in Rayalaseema region.
He said the State government discriminated against Telangana by not giving consent to the Manoharabad-Kothapally railway line though it was approved by the Railway Board three years ago.
“The State government would give approvals with speed for the Kadapa-Bangalore railway line by agreeing to bear 50 per cent cost because in non-Telangana. But when it comes to Telangana, they would not give consent though it was approved by the Railways. If Chief Minister K Rosaiah is impartial, then he should give consent for this railway line in Telangana,” Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said.
He has written a letter to the Chief Minister over the matter.
