Government to take up final phase of land distribution
Tehsildars of all the 1,122 mandals in the State will be given laptops and all districts will be provided with digital GPS equipment for survey of lands during 2013-14 as part of total digitisation of the Revenue Department, Minister for Revenue N. Raghuveera Reddy has stated.
Speaking at the regional revenue officers meeting here on Saturday, the Minister said the laptops would enable the Tehsildars function while on the move and could provide required information to higher authorities instantly. About 95 per cent of revenue (land) records were already computerised and the remaining would be digitised soon.
The government would take up seventh and final phase of land distribution in two to three months, the Minister said and directed the revenue officials to identify all government lands suitable for agriculture so that all landless poor in the State could be given a sense of pride and self-esteem along with the piece of land.
The Minister told the officials to identify all other government lands, take steps for their protection and identify all tenant farmers apart from other specified tasks during the Revenue Sadassus to be held in over 27,000 villages in the State from March 9 to April 10. They should aim for issuance of Loan Eligibility Certificates (LECs) to about 15 lakh licensed cultivators, including over 5 lakh renewals by April-end, the Minister said.
Filling of another 7,000 vacancies in the department would be taken up in the next four-five months and approval of new urban and revenue mandals and divisions, which was delayed due to the Legislative Council elections, would also be done in a couple of days, the Minister stated.
