A day after the Telangana government resumed 189.11 acres of land given to the APNGOs in Gopannapally, association president P. Ashok Babu represented to the Telangana government that they could not develop the land due to pending cases in courts.
Mr. Ashok Babu also sought an appointment from Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to explain their case and request for the return of land to the Housing Society.
On Thursday, the Revenue Department officers resumed the land on the ground that the APNGOs Housing Society failed to utilise the land allotted to them for construction of houses in 2003.
In a representation to Revenue Minister Mahmood Ali and Principal Secretary B.R. Meena here on Friday, Mr. Ashok Babu said that of 189 acres allotted to the APNGOs, there were land disputes regarding 100 acres. A case related to 90 acres is pending in the Supreme Court as it reserved its judgment and another case pertaining to 10 acres is pending in the High Court.
As both the courts issued status quo orders pending the disposal of the case, the government could not alienate the land to the society though 1,644 members, including Telangana employees, paid Rs.4 crore for the plotting and development of the land, he said.
