Two Jagan loyalists in the Congress party – Konda Surekha and Kunja Satyavati – on Tuesday submitted their resignation letters to the Assembly Secretary S. Raja Sadaram again in support of the Telangana statehood cause.
Ms. Surekha representing Parkal Assembly constituency and Ms. Satyavati (Bhadrachalam) seat came to the Assembly on Tuesday afternoon. They were informed by the Assembly Secretary that the Speaker was not coming. Thereafter, they submitted their resignation letters to the Secretary, who asked them to put them in a sealed cover.
The sealed covers were then forwarded to the Speaker's office. Another Jagan loyalist Jayasudha (Secunderabad) did not accompany the two MLAs. The three had announced that they were hardcore YSR loyalists and determined to resign for the statehood cause. The two legislators along with over 100 other legislators from Telangana had tendered their resignations on July 4, which were subsequently rejected by the Speaker Nadendla Manohar on the grounds that they were made in an ‘emotionally charged atmosphere'.
Word kept
Speaking to reporters later, Ms. Surekha said she had kept her word to resign on September 13, the day on which the ‘Sakala Janula Samme' was launched by the employees.
Asked about Ms. Jayasudha's absence, Ms. Surekha said she could not come as her mother was ill. “She has promised to submit her resignation letter in a day or two,” she pointed out.
