Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday firmly turned down a plea by the Ministers from Telangana to give permission for the ‘Chalo Assembly’ rally by the T-JAC activists on June 14. A group of Ministers comprising – D. Sridhar Babu, Danam Nagender, D. K. Aruna, Sunita Laxma Reddy, Basawaraj Saraiah and Mukesh Goud besides Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy discussed the issue with the Chief Minister in his chambers in the Assembly.

They reportedly suggested that the rally could be permitted till Indira Park and a delegation allowed to meet the Chief Minister in the Assembly to submit a memorandum. Earlier, a delegation of TRS, BJP and CPI legislators made a similar appeal to Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy and promised to take the responsibility of ensuring a peaceful rally.

Rejecting their pleas, Mr. Reddy said that never in the history of the Assembly was such a rally allowed. “Prohibitory orders have been clamped in a 4 kms radius of the Assembly.

How can we allow thousands of people to gather for a rally? Will it not lead to law and order problem,” he reportedly said.
