Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday night assured a delegation of The Hindu journalists to look into the case filed against The Hindu Resident Editor (Andhra Pradesh) S. Nagesh Kumar by the police for carrying a >report in connection with the visit of DGP V. Dinesh Reddy to a godman Habib Mujtaba Al Aydaroos Baba.

The delegation met the Chief Minister and briefed him about the case filed against the newspaper’s Resident Editor.

It impressed upon him that what appeared in the newspaper on September 13 was a straight report about the DGP meeting the godman and that there was no malafide intention on the part of the newspaper to damage the reputation of the senior police officer, as the FIR alleges.

The delegation lamented that the DGP’s action appeared vindictive as he had singled out The Hindu for the said report while other newspapers and television channels had also reported extensively about the visit.
