Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is believed to have gotten the nod from his party’s high command to fill at least a dozen nominated posts in the next few days.
An indication to this effect was available as the names of PCC office bearers and some district level leaders began doing the rounds.
They include PCC general secretaries – G. Niranjan and S. Laxminarayana, Nizamabad DCC chief Gadugu Gangadhar, former Deputy Chief Minister C. Jagannatha Rao’s son C. Srinivas Rao, former Rajamundry City Congress president Tokala Murali, former Kakinada City Congress chief Pantham Nanaji, minority cell leader Sirajuddin and former Badvel MLA V.Sivaramakrishnaiah.
Though the list has not yet been officially announced, party leaders confirmed that these names were actively being considered for the nominated posts.
It was pointed out that the Chief Minister took care to see that his aides and those backing his leadership got preference.
The Chief Minister has already announced Abid Rasool Khan as the Minorities Commission chairman while APCC general secretary Tripurana Venkataratnam is set to be the Andhra Pradesh Women Commission chairperson.
Meanwhile, former Minister Kantheti Satyanarayana Raju and former IPS officer D.T.Nayak have reportedly been recommended for nomination to the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota.
Mr. Raju has been aspiring for the MLC ticket ever since the revival of the Upper House in 2007 while Dr. Nayak has the backing of Union Minister K.Chiranjeevi.
Another name under active consideration is that of APCC IT department chief Bhamidipati Ramamurthy, who is backed by the Chief Minister.
