Kiran, Botcha should respect Sonia’s decision: DS

September 18, 2013 02:54 am | Updated June 02, 2016 12:54 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Former PCC chief D. Srinivas has called upon Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana and other Seemandhra leaders to respect the decision of AICC president Sonia Gandhi on bifurcation of the State and cooperate in completion of the process.

Addressing party workers after hoisting the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday to commemorate Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations here, Mr. Srinivas said it was the bounden duty of those holding positions in the Government and the party to implement the decision taken by the central leadership on division.

His observations apparently came after a section of the Telangana Congress leaders accused the Chief Minister and other Seemandhra leaders of working against the interests of the high command.Stating that creation of Telangana was five decade long demand of the people of the region, Mr. Srinivas said the high command had kept its word only after it held wide ranging consultations with the all parties and constituted Srikrishna Committee.

Trying to reassure those settled in Hyderabad and other places about their safety and security, the former PCC chief reminded that people from Seemandhra region had relocated to Telangana districts and places like Raichur (Karnataka) and Nagpur (Maharashtra) 70 years ago. They never faced any difficulty or hardships from anyone during their stay. He said the same situation would prevail even after division took place.

Ministers – K. Jana Reddy, D. K. Aruna, D.Sridhar Babu and Sudarshan Reddy and other PCC office bearers were present. In a related development, Congress leaders under the aegis of Telangana Congress Monitoring Committee hoisted tri-colour flag at Turre Baaz Khan statue, in Koti.
