YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohana Reddy on Tuesday said that special category status (SCS) alone would pave the way for industrialisation and create employment opportunities for youngsters.
Addressing ‘Yuva Bheri’ here, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said the TDP government failed to achieve SCS for the State and forgot to implement its promise of providing at least one job in each family.
Demanding that the 1.42 lakh vacancies in the government sector be filled immediately, Mr. Jaganmohana Reddy said: “Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has the moral responsibility of fulfilling his promises during elections. Otherwise, the youth will teach him a lesson.”
“The government should insist on SCS as the Centre sanctioned huge funds to Jammu & Kashmir and other States that are geographically smaller than A.P. The special status would certainly change the fate of the youngsters,” he said.
Earlier, during a question and answer session, a few youngsters expressed their ire at the “inordinate delay” in issuing of job notifications. Some of them objected to the role of Singapore firms in the construction of Amaravati at the cost of local talent.
YSR Congress general secretary Dharmana Prasada Rao expressed concern over large-scale migration of people from the district to other States. He said that the SCS would make entrepreneurs invest in A.P. Senior party leaders from the north Andhra region, YSR Congress district president Reddy Shanti, and former Minister Tammineni Sitaram spoke.

Vizianagaram Correspondent adds:
Earlier, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, who was on his way to attend the Yuva Bheri in Srikakulam, was accorded a grand welcome at A. Raavivalasa in Bhogapuram mandal by party leaders K. Veerabhadra Swamy, P. Sambasiva Raju, and farmers to be displaced by the proposed international airport. The farmers presented him a plough.
Buoyed by the grand reception, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy told the farmers that High Court stay on land acquisition for the airport was a good omen. However, he asked them to stay united and fight legally till the government dropped the proposal. He promised to support their cause.
SCS alone will usher in industrialisation and create employment opportunities for youngsters, he says
