Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Sunday that he would devote much of his time in December to work out a strategy to intensify the separate Telangana agitation following the submission of report by Srikrishna committee.
He told a meeting at the party office here that December 9 would go down in history as a milestone in the separate Telangana movement since a major meeting with a large population of the region was proposed at Warangal on that day.
After the meeting, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said he would sit down to discuss the future agitation with different sections of people.
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief said he would take into account the tactics likely to be adopted by the government to malign the agitation.
“The enemy (government) is intelligent and will try to shift the blame on us. This was evident from recent incidents on Osmania University campus when elements outside of the movement resorted to violence but genuine students were arrested by police.”
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao added that the government was deliberately trying to drive Telangana supporters to violence.
It launched a false campaign that they would take to streets immediately after December 31 when the deadline for submission of report by Srikrishna committee expired.
‘More severe'
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief also said the agitation could take any form depending upon the response of the government to the demand.
But, the agitation would be more severe than in the past because there were no integrationists in Telangana this time round. It was inevitable that the State was bifurcated, he said.
Doctors' recruitment
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief wanted the government to drop the proposal to recruit doctors in Hyderabad as part of zone VII. It was precisely on the issue of Hyderabad as a free zone that the separate Telangana agitation picked up last December.
The government did not learn lesson from it.
