Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has made it clear that his party will think of merger with the ruling Congress only if the latter meets its conditions.
“We want Telangana consisting of 10 districts with Hyderabad as the capital without any conditions,” Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao told reporters at Akkennapally in Nanganoor mandal of Medak district on Monday after addressing a public meeting.
He said that about 1,000 lives would have been saved had the Centre granted statehood for the region when he made the proposal for merger. There would be no change in the functioning of the party -- it would completely involve itself in the reconstruction of the new State, he added.
Mr. Rao alleged that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had personal interest in the Metro Rail project and was receiving hundreds of crores of bribes from the construction company. “We will review the project once the Telangana State is formed and we come to power,” he warned.
Taking exception to the statement made by Telugu Desam party president N. Chandrababu Naidu that the party would not present its views before the Group of Ministers, the TRS chief alleged that the latter had shown his ‘true colours’ again.
“The TDP president is in the first row whenever decisions are taken against the formation of .Telangana. The people of Telangana will teach him a lesson,” he added.
