Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha created a flutter on Tuesday when she said the region’s women would throw bombs at Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy instead of cricket balls, if he tried to thwart statehood to Telangana.
Speaking at the ‘Sampoorna Telangana Sadhana Deeksha’ organised by the TJAC here, Ms.Kavitha condemned the Chief Minister’s attitude of comparing the sensitive issue of Telangana with cricket. Accusing Seemandhra leaders of playing all dirty tricks to stall Telangana she maintained that the people were not ready to accept statehood with any sort of restrictions.
Criticising the YSR Congress, she reminded the party leaders that it was Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy who had sent Telangana Congress MLAs to the party high command first. She also pointed out that it was Vijayamma who had supported Telangana during the Parkal by-election campaign.
Alleging that conspiracies were being hatched at all levels to scuttle Telangana, including debating the Bill in the Assembly, TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram urged the Speaker and the Governor to send the bill back to the President as it is if they were not interested in collecting opinion of the House by conducting a debate. They were insulting the President by not discussing the Bill, he said.
He demanded 13 changes in the Bill, including their opposition to investing special powers in the Governor, appointment of advisors to him, against common High Court and in sharing electricity, employees and pensioners and division of assets and corporations.
TRS secretary general K. Keshava Rao alleged that the Governor was responsible for the ongoing chaos on the constitutional process related to Telangana as he could give a direction to the government. The Chief Minister was going against the Constitution by not facilitating debate on the Bill sent by the President, he noted.
