Kapu youth from different parts of East Godavari district participated in a motorcycle rally organised from the residence of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham in large numbers.

The rally was to create awareness among the people about the importance of ‘Chalo Amaravati’ padayatra to be undertaken by Mr. Padmanabham on July 26 to bring pressure on the government to include Kapus in the list of BCs.

Youth rode over 200 motorcycles from Kirlampudi to Divili, Pithapuram, Gollaprolu, and Simhadripuram before culminating in Kirlampudi.

After flagging-off the rally, Mr. Padmanabham followed the rally in his car to ensure that the demonstration was staged in a disciplined manner. Heavy police deployment was made en route the rally to prevent untoward incidents.

While flagging-off the rally, Mr. Padmanabham called upon the youngsters to take an active part in the ongoing movement for achieving BC status. He said it would be an issue of life and death for every citizen of the community, as there was no future without having reservations in education and employment.

Citing the example of Military Madhavaram village in West Godavari district in which at least one person from each family dedicated themselves to the defence services, Mr. Padmanabham called upon the Kapus to send at least one youth from each family to strengthen the voice of the Kapus and make the government fulfil its promises to the community.

Raising slogans such as ‘Jai Kapu’ and ‘Jai Mudragada,’ the rally passed through the rural pockets. Pamphlets were distributed to the people on the objectives of the ‘padayatra’.
