Recalling the services rendered by the eminent social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam to society, Collector Kartikeya Misra on Sunday said that on the lines of reforms launched by Raja Rammohan Roy in Bengal, the late Veeresalingam had undertaken a good number of reforming activities in the city.

“It is high time we recalled his yeomen services and inspired the younger generations to follow his footsteps,” Mr. Misra said while addressing a meeting organised to mark the death centenary of the late Veeresalingam at Anam Kala Kendram here.

The Collector said that be it preventing infant marriages or encouraging remarriages of widows, the late Veeresalingam contributed a lot to social reforms.

Congratulating the students of the municipal schools who secured 10/10 in the SSC examinations, the Collector advised them to set civil services as their target and commence their preparation right now, so that they could win the competitive examination and get a chance to serve the society.
