Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan on Monday gave a clarion call to people to choose the right leadership for rebuilding the State.

Kick-starting his election campaign from the temple city on Monday, Mr. Narayan flayed the Union government as well as the State legislators for having bungled their roles in the bifurcation process, that benefited none. “The elected representatives have let the people down, but the party let down by you as ‘waste party’ (meaning ‘Lok Satta Party’) valiantly fought for the packages and special status for Seemandhra region,” he said.

Mr. Narayan also flayed the politicians for not questioning the way the capital’s revenue was allocated entirely for one region at the cost of the other. Mr. Narayan assured that his party would take the backward Rayalaseema and Northern Andhra regions forward on the industrial front. Lyricist ‘Sirivennela’ Seetharama Sastry and party’s State president Katari Srinivasa Rao flayed the politicians for duping the people over the bifurcation issue.

Earlier, the party members, equipped with their party symbol ‘whistle’ and flags, took out a massive rally from the Telugu Thalli statue covering the major junctions of the city. Meanwhile, the party’s youth wing – ‘Yuva Satta’, unlike their contemporaries, spoke on ‘voter’s awareness’. They highlighted the pros and cons of voting in a democracy and urged the people, not to be misled by abrupt announcements of freebies and welfare schemes.
