Journalists from various parts of the State on Wednesday took out a rally here to highlight the problems faced by them in mofussil areas.

The procession that began from Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram ended at Indira Park where a meeting was addressed by trade union leaders, including former Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy.

The rally was organised by the A.P. Working Journalists’ Federation whose president B. Basava Punnaiah and general secretary G. Anjaneyulu also spoke on the occasion.

The speakers demanded job security, house sites and accreditation for journalists. They also demanded implementation of recommendations by Justice Gurubux Majithia on wages, a pension scheme as in Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Odisha and a commission to study the problems facing journalists.

A delegation also submitted a memorandum to Information and Public Relations Minister D.K. Aruna.
