Jolt to TDP in Anantapur as three leaders join YSRC

April 28, 2014 08:13 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 01:45 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Hardly a week before the polling in Seemandhra, the TDP suffered a jolt in Anantapur district on Monday when three of its leaders in Anantapur and Kadiri constituencies joined the YSR Congress.

Mahalakshmi Srinivas, who unsuccessfully contested for Anantapur Assembly constituency twice on TDP ticket, joined the YSRC here in the presence of party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. Mr. Srinivas, who hails from the Balija community which comprises a considerable chunk in the segment, is considered a close follower of Kalava Srinivasulu, one-time Anantapur MP. Mr. Srinivas is upset with the TDP leadership for denying ticket this time as it preferred former municipal chairperson V. Prabhakara Chowdary and switched over to the YSRC.

Anantapur Town Cooperative Bank president B. Gowtham and Kadiri TDP leader Sidda Reddy also joined the YSRC. All three vowed to work for the success of YSRC candidates in the two constituencies.
