Leader of the Opposition and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s alleged involvement in various aspects linked to corruption makes him unfit for running a political party, Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, has said.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Mr. Reddy maintained that with 12 cases and 14 chargesheets (still counting), Mr. Jagan had ‘created a record...a history of sorts,’ and termed his ongoing efforts during ongoing ‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra’ ‘a trick to woo voters with false promises.’ “Aspects like summons, attachment/seizure of properties, chargesheets, notices, money laundering etc., from the Enforcement Directorate, have been a regular feature of Mr. Jagan’s life for the past several years. The recent incident also shows the extent of his corruption and has joined the ranks of prominent scamsters. Meanwhile, YSRCP is highlighting statements such as ‘Walk with Jagan’ during the walkathon. Where should people walk with him? To jail or court?” he questioned.

‘Double game’

Mr. Reddy said the YSRCP was playing a double game — praising the Union Budget and opposing the same at the State level. “If he (Jagan) can earn such huge amounts even before assuming power, it is hard to imagine the consequences after taking over the reins of the State. They are using their media to spread false propaganda, including blaming the State government for assurances of the Centre,” he added. Mr. Reddy demanded that the Centre live up to promises/ commitments made in ‘special assistance measures.’

‘Resign from Assembly’

Special Correspondent in Kurnool writes: TDP district president Somisetty Venkateswarlu asked Mr. Jagan to resign from Assembly before making his party MPs quit Parliament on the SCS issue. He questioned Mr. Jagan’s silence on it for three years.
