YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy will meet Governor E.S. L. Narasimhan on September 30 and seek immediate convening of the State Assembly to take up a resolution to keep the State united.
According to party sources, the Governor gave an appointment at 4 4 p.m. on September 30. Mr. Jagan will lead a delegation of party leaders to the Raj Bhavan and submit a memorandum to Mr.Narasimhan.
Talking to reporters after the party president interacted with MLAs and other leaders at his Lotus Pond residence, YSRC’s deputy floor leader B. Shobha Nagi Reddy demanded that the government to immediately convene the Assembly.
A letter would be written to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in this regard and the party legislators would also meet Speaker N. Manohar with the same request on Friday.
Once the Assembly was convened and the resolution put to vote, the true colours of the members and political parties would be known, she added.
She said had the Chief Minister and other Seemandhra leaders resigned in the wake of the Congress Working Committee’s decision to bifurcate the State, things would not have come to such a pass.
Instead of waiting for the Cabinet note, it would be better to convene the Assembly and pass a resolution in favour of united A.P.
Meanwhile, party honorary president Vijayamma wrote to the Chief Minister, urging him to convene the Assembly immediately.

YSR Congress honorary president Vijayamma has written to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, requesting him to convene the State Assembly immediately to pass a resolution to keep the State united. Ever since the Congress Working Committee unilaterally and arbitrarily announced the division of the State, the situation in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions have worsened, with the life virtually coming to a halt.
She said it was relevant to recall that during the formation of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand States, the Union Government had insisted that unless resolutions were passed in the respective State Assemblies, the process would not begin.
