YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday asked the people to give 30 Lok Sabha seats to his party as it would enable him to scuttle the Centre’s designs to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
“Let us demolish the Delhi fort and support for the Prime Minister’s post whoever backs united Andhra Pradesh,” he said while launching the “Samaikya Sankharavam” here. Delayed by three and half hours, the launch witnessed a sea of humanity in Kuppam, leading to huge traffic jams.
Invoking the names of Lord Venkateswara and Lord Varasiddi Vinayaka, Jagan made a tirade against AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, squarely blaming them for the bifurcation. “This meeting is aimed at making the message reverberate in Delhi and all over the country. It should be an eye-opener to divisive forces,” he said.
Referring to the difficulties in water-sharing, Jagan said: “From Kuppam to Srikakulam, it would be sea water and desert.” He called for united struggle for a unified State in the face of Brajesh Kumar tribunal verdict, which would ruin the farmers’ community.
“During YSR regime, 57,000 jobs were filled at campus recruitment in Hyderabad, but it has now slipped to 25,000 per year, and the city is trailing behind Coimbatore. For development, seaports and airports should be in one State, otherwise new companies would not come and the existing ones will move to other States,” he said.
Mr Jagan alleged that Sonia Gandhi in order to make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister is robbing the children of AP of their jobs through bifurcation of the State. Making a reference to Sonia’s Italian origin, Mr Jagan said, “If we make a Bill that everybody should go back to their countries, where will you go? We Telugus are here together for over six decades."
“It is your (people of Kuppam) responsibility to force Naidu to get a letter in favour of Samaikyandhra from him,” he said.
He alleged that Kiran Kumar Reddy intimidated the employees to call off their strike for unified State. He termed his mission as a fight between “the arrogance of Delhi and the self-respect of Telugus.”
