YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday visited the houses of farmers who committed suicide in Pulivendula constituency in his Rythu Bharosa Yatra and consoled their family members.

He visited Peddakudala village in Lingala mandal in Kadapa district and met the family members of a farmer Manjula Chalapathi who committed suicide by consuming pesticide on September 16 last year owing to mounting debts. Chalapathi is survived by wife and three children.

He borrowed Rs. 10 lakh from private money-lenders to sink borewells in his agricultural field.

Chalapathi also owed Rs. 80,000 to the Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank, of which only Rs. 20,000 was waived by the Government, his wife told the YSRC chief.
