The Telugu Desam Party has said that the grant of bail to Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy exposed the political understanding reached between the YSR Congress and the ruling Congress party.

TDP senior leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu wondered why the investigating agency, the CBI, filed its memo on Monday, a day when the hearing on Mr. Jagan’s bail plea was scheduled. What was the motive behind the CBI’s claims that there was no evidence of quid pro quo deals relating to eight companies – Sandur Power, Carmel Asia, PVP Business Ventures, Jubilee Media Communications, Brahmani Infratech, RR Global, Saraswati Power and Mantri Developers?

CPI State secretary K. Narayana said the court granted bail to Mr. Jagan in line with the provision of law. But securing the bail did not mean that the charges of corruption and irregularities were proved wrong. “Mr. Jagan should prove his innocence before the court of law for the charges to be nullified,” Dr. Narayana said. CPI (M) State secretariat member Y. Venkateswara Rao said the bail had no political significance. Mr. Jagan had been in jail for 16 months and the CBI had submitted a memo stating that the investigation had been completed.

The court took into consideration the existing provisions in granting the bail, but the proceedings and trials would continue till the case was completed.
