YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has urged the Congress and TDP legislators to act according to their conscience and press for clause-wise voting on the draft Bill on the State’s bifurcation and a resolution in support of united Andhra Pradesh.

“My humble plea to every MLA of the two parties is their support for keeping the State united by disobeying what Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy tells and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu for the sake of people. Or else, they will go down into the history as leaders who have let down the people,” Mr. Jagan said at a press conference here on Saturday.

“We owe this to our State and to our youth”, Mr. Jagan reminded the MLAs stating that very short time was left to exhibit their resolve and commitment to the people since the State was being divided by misusing Article 3 by the Centre. It was the first instance of such an exercise being undertaken without seeking resolution from the Assembly concerned, he pointed out.

It should happen in the ongoing Assembly session itself.

Otherwise people would disown every MLA for their role in the bifurcation.

He accused both the Chief Minister and the TDP chief of cooperating with the Centre in dividing the State just for votes and seats.

Mr. Naidu was deceiving people of all regions by making his MLAs hold placards both in support of Telangana and united AP, he alleged. On his campaign to mobilise political parties’ support for amending the Article 3 to prevent the Centre from dividing States indiscriminately, Mr. Jagan said several leaders had extended their support.

Asked whether he would support Narendra Modi and tie-up with BJP, Mr. Jagan reiterated that YSRC would support only that party which would help keep the State united.

On YSRC moving a no-confidence motion in the Assembly, Mr. Jagan said irrespective of such moves the Kiran government would be on its way out as poll schedule was likely to be announced after 70 days.
