What looked like a green carpet with an intricate design amid other uprooted trees and damaged crops at Somidevapalli in S. Rayavaram mandal of Visakhapatnam district is yet another addition to the havoc wrought by Cyclone Hudhud. Betel leaf creepers are touching the ground. Coconut farmers are left with no means of livelihood. Usually they take money in advance from traders towards three-year produce. But with the trees either fallen or their tops blown off, they have no means of clearing their dues. The Hindu lensman C.V. Subrahmanyam records the devastation.
