: The Telugu Desam Party has lashed out at YSR Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, for his intemperate remarks aimed at provoking people against the Chandrababu Naidu government.

The YSRC president’s comments belittling the Chief Minister and his government were tantamount to insulting the people who gave their mandate in favour of the TDP. “It is unfortunate that Mr. Jagan did not learn decent behaviour in politics at least from his father Rajasekhara Reddy. He has proved himself to be unfit to be an Opposition leader,” senior leader and former Minister Anam Ramanarayan Reddy said.

Mr. Ramanarayan Reddy said while there was celebratory mood in Telangana on June 2, the State formation day, the situation was otherwise in Andhra Pradesh which had been facing uncertainty owing to the manner in which the State was bifurcated. The Chief Minister had been putting his best efforts to rejuvenate the State and its economy, but Mr. Jagan was creating obstacles at every point.

“It is unfortunate to have a person like Mr. Jagan as the Opposition leader. People are worried as to why they had voted to Mr. Jagan who is unable to digest development in the new State,” he said. Mr. Ramanarayan Reddy said the State started its journey with a huge revenue deficit of Rs. 16,000 crore and the Central government had released little over Rs. 2,500 crore in two years. There were reports that the State could face further budgetary cuts, but there was no response from the main Opposition party in this regard.
