Congress will receive a major jolt with 70 of its MLAs in Andhra Pradesh quitting the party soon after January 23, if the Central Government goes ahead with division of the State, predicted Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.
At a press conference here on Saturday to amplify on APCC President Botcha Satyanarayana’s statement on Friday that 30 legislators would quit, he opined that was a conservative estimate.
He said the Congress would be routed in both the regions – Telangana and Seemandhra and not win even a single Lok Sabha seat.
‘70 MLAs ready to quit’About 10 to 12 State and Union Ministers and 70 Congress MLAs were ready to quit, he said.
The State Assembly should take up voting on every clause of the Telangana Bill and defeat it. Parliament will not take up a defeated bill and pass it to divide the State, he observed. He wanted the Congress high command to realise the impending danger of all party MLAs/MPs quitting to join other parties and stop the process of division of the State.
