It is best ever land pooling package in country: Naidu

December 08, 2014 10:40 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:46 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said the land pooling package offered by the government was the best in the country.

Asserting that a world class capital city would be built between Vijayawada and Guntur despite attempts by some political parties to derail the proposal, he said the centrally located area with social infrastructure comprising two municipal corporations, three municipalities and Tullur mandal would be ideal to attract investments and generate employment. A database of all residents of the capital region is being prepared.

He said the capital city would be developed in three phases: inner ring with a radius of 75 sq.km, middle one with 125 sq.km radius and outer one with 200 sq.km radius which covers Vijayawada, Guntur and Tenali. For the first phase, the focus is on inner ring area with about 30,000 acres in 29 villages, he said.

Asked about the challenges of building a new capital given the huge revenue deficit and other financial problems, Mr. Naidu said opportunities would arise from crises. “Telugu people should seize this as an opportunity to build a world class capital. Land would come through land pooling but we need large scale funds for creating infrastructure,” he said.

Elaborating on mobilisation of resources, he said ongoing auction of red sanders and other means is expected to generate Rs.2,000 crore. “We can’t say at this stage how much we would require for Capital construction and how much we would get from Union Government but I am confident of mobilising required resources,” he said.
