Inter girl ends life in Narayana college hostel

Student unions call for bandh today

An Intermediate MPC first year student Pavani, 16, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the Narayana junior college girls’ hostel room at Krishnapuram in Kadapa town in the early hours of Friday.

The college authorities informed the girl’s parents Malleswara Reddy and Sivamma about her death and rushed Pavani to RIMS hospital at around 4 a.m. and doctors declared her brought dead. The parents who went to Narayana junior college were denied entry into the campus and were told that he body was in RIMS hospital mortuary.

The grief-stricken parents and relatives refused post-mortem of Pavani’s body and were taking it to the junior college to stage a protest, when RIMS police obstructed them midway and sent the body back to the hospital mortuary, leading to mild tension. The girl student’s parents lodged a complaint expressing dou-bts on the girl’s death, barely four months after joining her in the college. Kadapa police registered a case.

Inquiry ordered

Meanwhile, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who is in charge Minister of Kadapa district, reportedly ordered an inquiry by Kadapa Joint Collector Swetha Teotia . He warned of stern action against the college management basing on the inquiry report. Demanding a judicial inquiry into the death, student organisations called for a bandh of educational institutions on Saturday.
