Telangana districts continued their poor show and most districts figured much below the state average and other coastal districts in the Intermediate first year results declared on Sunday by the Minister for Secondary Education, K. Parthasarathy.
The overall, pass percentage increased to 54.60 compared to 53.75 per cent last year and 52.71 per cent the year before. Krishna district topped the list with 74 per cent passes while Mahabubnagar figured at the bottom with just 40 per cent passes. Most Telangana districts secured low pass percentages like Nizamabad (41), Medak (41), Nalgonda (41), Warangal (46), Adilabad (48) and Karimnagar (47). However, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts were the exceptions with 64 and 55 per cent respectively.
Out of the 8,91,337 candidates, who took the exam 43.06 per cent figured in “A” grade (greater than or equal to 75 per cent) while 32.21 per cent secured “B” grade (greater than or equal to 60 per cent and less than 75 per cent). The rest were in “C” and “D” grades. Girls pass percentage (59.46) fairly higher than boys (50.22).
The Minister ruled out any irregularities in the valuation system and said reports in some channels were not true. Valuation was done by experienced teachers while a few others were used for bubbling the marks sheets.
Advanced supplementary from May 23
The advanced supplementary examination will be held from May 22 and the last date for payment of fee is May 3. There is no provision for payment of examination fee with penalty.
Candidates, who have passed in all papers, can appear for improvement, on payment of Rs. 100 per paper in addition to the normal examination fees and the better of the two will be considered for final counting. Failed candidates can appear for all the passed papers also but they have to forego the marks of the annual examinations and only the marks secured in supplementary exams will be considered final.
