Insurance policy, welfare fund sought for journalists

TDP MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy, Kurnool MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy, industrialist T.G. Bharat and leaders of Congress and CPI on Sunday promised to ensure welfare of journalists in Kurnool district, allot house sites to them and get sanction for a Press Club at Kurnool.

Addressing journalists in A.P. Union of Working Journalists’ meeting here, Mr. Chakrapani Reddy said he would puruse the issue of health cards and house sites with the Collector. When journalists said sanction of house sites at Jagannatha Gattu has been pending since six years, he assured to take up the matter. YSRC MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy assured his cooperation in allotment of house sites to 300 journalists in Kurnool. Industrialist T.G. Bharath lauded the untiring efforts with which journalists worked during the 2009 floods and helicopter crash claiming former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s life. He promised to offer medicare at discounted prices to ailing scribes at Gowri Gopal hospital, owned by him.
