The Vizianagaram district administration has accorded top priority to resolve the land-related grievances of the farmers on war footing after observing that many people have been moving around the revenue offices for solution to their grievances.
It is observed that revenue-related petitions dominate the ‘Grievances Day’ which is conducted every Monday at the Collector’s office. Hence, it has been decided to take petitions exclusively from farmers and others on every Thursday and Friday as part of the ‘Rythu Sevalo Revenue Sakha’ programme. Mutation, e-pattadar passbook, correction of mistakes in passbooks, changes in adangal, conversion of land for commercial purpose, removal of encroachments, regularisation of unregistered lands and others are being resolved on top priority
According to Vizianagaram Collector Vivek Yadav, the distrtict administration could resolve 2,685 of the 7,246 petitions received in the last two months. Except complicated issues, the remaining would be resolved within one month. The “Rythu Sevalo Revenue Sakha is really an innovative programme. The farmers of all mandals can utilise the opportunity to find out a permanent solution for their grievances. Mandal and village level revenue staff have been advised to extend maximum help for the genuine applicants,” he added. Vizianagaram Revenue Divisional Officer S. Srinivas Murthy said the petitions in the district offices had come down drastically with the effective implementation of the initiative.
Several public representatives hailed the new programme. S. Kota MLA Kolla Lalita Kumari said the farmers used to face many difficulties in updating their passbooks and other records. “The initiative is really a boon for the villagers. The clear title deeds and e-pass books will help them to get credit facility easily. It also helps to them complete land transactions in a hassle-free manner. We requested the revenue officials to continue the programme in remote and tribal areas too to help innocent and illiterate villagers,” she added.
