Veda in a still from ‘Anandini’.

Blame it on sheer coincidence or a conscious effort to copy, rushes and pre-release material of some movies in Tollywood tend to remind you of earlier hits. Take for instance, the yet-to-be-released movie of actress Veda which is titled Anandini .

One cannot but help find similarities between the movie and the Anushka starrer Arundhati , a fantasy-horror flick which went on to become a blockbuster. The poster of Anandini released recently has a part of Veda’s face splashed with Blood, a la Anushka’s famous still from Arundhathi .

While both actresses’ expression and styling looks same, even the title design has close resemblances. Well, it does not stop there. Directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, Arundhati was released in January, exactly five years ago. Following its footsteps, Anandini too will be released this month.

Gopala, Gopala to hit screens today

The makers of Gopala, Gopala , the Telugu remake of Oh ! My God have announced that it will hit the screens on Saturday, January 10, a day later than the usual Friday. On Thursday, the multi-starrer that brings together Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh for the first time got a clean ‘U’ certificate at the Censors.

Ever since it was announced last year, it has drawn attention for more reasons than one — being a multi-starrer in which Pawan Kalyan plays Lord Krishna that eclipsed the fact that it is a remake of a Hindi blockbuster and because both the stars have sizeable fan followings of their own. It will premiere in the United States of America a day ahead, on January 9 evening itself. Within hours of the teaser being released, lakhs of people had seen in YouTube and on Facebook.

As was expected, because it was all along promoted as a clean entertainer, the film got a ‘U’ certificate and producers D. Suresh Babu and Sharrat Marar of Northstar Entertainment expressed their confidence in director Kishore Kumar and in the music composed by Anup Reubens. They said Gopala, Gopala would touch the hearts of filmgoers with its ‘positive intent and spirit and for bringing wholesome entertainment to the large screen.
