Union Minister for Textiles Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Saturday said that there was no change in his stand that the State should remained united but made it clear that he would abide by the CWC’s decision.
“I had not taken a U turn as is being made out by the media on the bifurcation issue. I still stick to my stand against bifurcation of State which I had vociferously said four years ago also,” he told reporters here. In the same vein he said he would go by party’s decision. Mr. Rao was speaking for the first time after the CWC decided in favour of bifurcation.
The Union Minister, who represents Eluru parliamentary constituency, said that as many as nine Ministers had met the Central leadership and opposed bifurcation. “Andhra Pradesh with 42 MPs is a big State and division of the State is not advisable. Only when we are united, the State can grow on all fronts. Merely dividing the State for the benefit of few politicians is not correct,” he said.
Stating that smaller States would not serve any purpose, he warned that it could lead to disintegration of the country. He said there was genuine concern of the people of Seemandhra staying in Hyderabad about their well being.
They have made the Twin Cities their residence and they are concerned about going back to their native places.
