Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana has said that illegal layouts will be demolished in the new capital region. He added that farmers had given consent letters for pooling of 8,400 acres and expressed hope that 10,000 acres would be pooled by the end of January.
Mr. Narayana said the verification of claims made by land owners in the consent forms, submitted as affidavits, would take time, as revenue and survey teams had to conduct field inspections before ascertaining the beneficiaries.
He added that the first phase of loan waiver in the capital region had been completed, with the government waiving off Rs.1.5 lakh for each farmer. During the next phase, farm loans to the extent of Rs. 50,000 to Rs.1.5 lakh will be granted in the form of cheques, the Minister said.
Meanwhile, Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy undertook a novel protest against the government’s decision banning farmers from cultivating lands once they signed the agreement.
Mr. Reddy plucked jasmine in the Penumaka fields, besides having food with farmers.
The MLA said he would stand by the farmers in their agitation to retain their lands.
The MLA also came down heavily on the CRDA Commissioner for his comments that all illegal structures would be pulled down. “Farmers have put up temporary structures to keep implements and utensils. Will the government pull them down, too?” he asked.
Farmers have given consent letters for pooling of 8,400 acres.
