Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party national president N. Chandrababu Naidu will observe one-day hunger strike against the Central government’s inaction on the demand for Special Category Status (SCS) to the State, at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium here on April 20 from 9 a.m.

A Cabinet sub-committee on the protest, christened as ‘dharma porata deeskha,’ on Tuesday directed the officials to make elaborate arrangements at the stadium as leaders of various political parties are expected to take part.

Two daises would be erected for the deeksha. Mr. Naidu and others would observe deeksha on the main dais, while cultural programmes would be organised on the other one.

The committee, headed by Energy Minister Kimidi Kala Venkat Rao, asked Collector B. Lakshmikantham to arrange mattresses on the main dais as about 150 people are expected to share it with Mr. Naidu.

Seating arrangement for 10,000 people would be made. Tents would be pitched outside the stadium to provide shelter to the visitors. The arrangements such as sound, lighting, LED screens, drinking water, etc, would be in place by April 19, he said.
