A farmer at the Anantagiri village near Kodad found nine copper pots, two copper idols and remains of satagopam , harathi plates and other items associated with temples, while digging his old house site to build a new one on Wednesday.
The farmer, with his neighbours, informed the Kodad tehsildar of the find.
The tehsildar took them into his possession. Archaeology department officials believe that these pots and idols are over 100 years old.
The farmer, Damuri Badraiah, and other villagers have retained two idols and requested the officials permission to keep them in their village temple.
In the presence of the District Collector, a panchanama of the things recovered was prepared.
Speaking to The Hindu , Ramulu Nayak, Assistant Director of the Department of Archaeology and Museums, said officials would visit the site to decide whether to excavate the site.
