I wrote to EC after receiving pleas: Rosaiah

Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah on Tuesday said that he wrote to the Election Commission with regard to the postponement of elections in two Assembly constituencies in Tami Nadu only after getting a few representations from the candidates and others.

Responding to a question from The Hindu , he said that he would not react on the comments made by the EC, which expressed displeasure over Governor’s letter seeking elections to Thanjavur and Aravakurichi Assembly constituencies by June 1, 2016.

The Commission postponed the polling in both the constituencies after observing large-scale distribution of money and liquor. AIADMK candidates V. Senthil Balaji (Aravakurichi) and M.Rangasamy (Thanjavur) urged the EC and the Tamil Nadu government for completion of election as early as possible.

After interacting with the State Election Officials, Mr. Rosaiah recommended the completion of elections by June 1 and it was strongly objected to by the poll panel.
