Former Minister S. Sailajanath on Monday said that he had never thought of joining another party and asserted that he was a ‘loyal’ Congress worker.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Congress office here along with the Congress candidate for the Anantapur Assembly constituency, Govardhan Reddy, he said that he was not aware of the fact that Jai Samaikyandhra Party had announced him as its vice-president.

“I was unwell and was being treated abroad. In the meanwhile, without my knowledge, the announcement was made. It is true that I worked with N Kiran Kumar Reddy in the struggle for Samaikayandhra, but I was never a part of JSP. I was and would remain a loyal Congress worker,” he said.

Asked as to why he was denied ticket by the TDP, he retorted saying that he had never approached any party for ticket and it was purely a media creation.

He said that he was confident of a win in the Singanamala constituency on the Congress ticket he has been given and said that he would go to the people on the firm footing of the good work that the Congress and himself had done in the last ten years for the improvement of the constituency.

Mr. Govardhan Reddy said that he had applied for Congress ticket in 2004 and in 2009 from the Praja Rajyam Party and that he was pleased that the Congress and APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy had given him the opportunity to contest from the Anantapur seat.
