With the mega religious event -- Sri Sitarama Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam -- slated to be held in Bhadrachalam on Tuesday, the authorities of Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple have expedited the process for preparation of adequate quantity of ‘Mutyala Talambralu’ and ‘laddu prasadam’.

According to the temple sources, over 60 kg of pearls (Mutyalu) of medium quality were procured from the pearl market in Hyderabad.

The process of mixing pearls with nearly 100 quintals of ‘talambralu’ (rice blended with turmeric, vermilion, saffron and other ingredients) is nearing completion.

The authorities have procured more quantity of pearls this time when compared to last year keeping in view the huge demand for ‘Mutyala Talambralu’ from the devotees.

Similar plans are afoot to prepare required number of laddus to meet the demand for the prasadams on Sri Rama Navami festival day.

Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam

Adequate quantity of Mutyala Talambralu will be made available soon after the celestial wedding (Sri Sitarama Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam) on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami in the temple town on Tuesday, said the temple Executive Officer M. Raghunath.

An estimated three lakh packets of Mutyala Talambralu each containing one pearl and 50,000 packets each containing two pearls will be prepared ahead of the celestial wedding, he said.

Sale of ‘Talambralu’

The devotees can either purchase the Mutyala Talambralu packets from the special counters to be set up in Bhadrachalam on Tuesday or obtain the Mutyala Talambralu along with prasadam and a small picture of the temple deity through registered post by sending money order for Rs. 50 in favour of the Temple Executive Officer, Bhadrachalam.

A total of 3 lakh laddus are being readied for sale after the celestial wedding ceremony in the temple town on Tuesday.

Other preparations including security arrangements are in place to ensure smooth conduct of the grand religious fete.

Meanwhile, Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan accompanied by wife Vimala Narasimhan, will take part in the celestial event.

He will offer prayers at the historical Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple before proceeding to Mithila Stadium, the venue of the Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam.

Security arrangements

The Bhadrachalam sub-divisional police have scaled up security arrangements for the Governor’s visit to the temple town on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami festival slated for Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police A. V. Ranganath is personally monitoring the security arrangements in the temple town.
