Honour killing at tribal hamlet in Warangal

September 23, 2013 02:42 am | Updated November 17, 2021 05:55 am IST - KURAVI (WARANGAL DT.):

A tribal girl was killed, allegedly by her family members at Tunikichettu Thanda on the outskirts of Kamepalli in this mandal on Sunday.

According to information reaching here, the girl, 16 years old, reportedly fell in love with a neighbour. But this was strongly objected to by the parents on the ground that the girl and the boy shared the surname.

But the duo did not pay heed to their objections and eloped eight months ago. They only came back on Saturday and went to the police station where the girl’s parents had lodged a missing case.

The boy and the girl told the police that they had gone away on mutual consent. Police counselled them and sent them to their houses. When the girl went home, she was attacked by her parents and brother who allegedly hanged her to death.

The parents tried to make it appear like a suicide but when grilled by the police, they reportedly confessed to their crime.

Mahabubabad DSP Rama Devi visited the hamlet. A case was booked against the girl’s family members.
