: For over 500 students of various SW residential schools and colleges across the State, it has been a rare experience to unplug their hidden talent.

The launch of The Hindu summer smart camp at AP Social Welfare Residential School/Junior College for girls at Vijayapuri South here provided the perfect setting for the students to learn the nuances of photography, theatre, quiz, and English. This is the fourth summer camp held in the country after Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Over the next six days, the students would be trained by experts — P.V. Siva Kumar, senior photographer who worked in The Hindu , B.S.N. Murthy, motivational speaker, Anitha Khosla (theatre), and Deepika (quiz) — during the camp being organised by The Hindu , in association with the AP Social Welfare Residential Institutions Educational Society (APSWRIES). Launching the camp, APSWRIES Secretary Colonel V. Ramulu said that the idea of holding summer camps for students of the SW residential schools was the brain child of Minister for Social Welfare R. Kishore Babu.

Thanking The Hindu for partnering with the Government in holding the summer camp, Colonel Ramulu said that students were enthusiastic about taking part in these camps. Zonal Officer, Zone 3, V. Jaya Prakash, said that the camp would help the students hone their skills in photography and theatre.
